Features & Benefits

The Convenience of Collagen, the Power of InterOss®

InterOss® Collagen combines the proven osteoconductive bone mineral with highly purified collagen to deliver a graft material that is easy to handle, easy to place, and effective at regenerating bone.

Easy Handling & Superior Absorption
Highly purified collagen binds the granules together and absorbs fluid — giving the composite a 1.7× absorption ratio that enables easier trimming, precise placement, and exceptional adaptation to irregular defect shapes.
Adaptable Shape — Plug & Block
Available in cylindric plug form and cuboid block form. Both shapes adapt to the defect site when wet — blocks can be trimmed with forceps and scissors in dry or hydrated state for precise fit without wastage.
Multi-Porous Matrix — >75% Porosity
The interconnected porous structure (porosity >75%, BET surface area >75 m²/g) acts as a conduit for the exchange of body fluids and growth factors, facilitating nutrient exchange, vascular development, and new bone formation.
Slow, Controlled Degradation
The collagen-hydroxyapatite composite is substantially resorbed by 12 weeks in a canine model — with less than 10% of the article remaining at the defect site — supporting timely replacement by new bone tissue.
Osteoconductive Bone Scaffold
InterOss® granules within the composite exhibit a natural mineralised bone structure similar to human bone, providing an osteoconductive environment for the ingrowth of adjacent viable bone and new bone-forming cells.

Indications for Use

Where InterOss® Collagen Works Best

InterOss® Collagen is designed specifically for socket preservation and ridge maintenance — anywhere ease of placement and reliable regeneration are needed.

Socket Preservation

Filling of extraction sockets to enhance preservation of the alveolar ridge — maintaining ridge width and height for future implant placement without complex surgical procedures.

Periodontal Defects

Filling of periodontal defects in conjunction with products intended for guided tissue regeneration (GTR) and guided bone regeneration (GBR) procedures.

Immediate Implant Sites

Used in socket grafting prior to immediate or delayed implant placement — the plug format is particularly suited to filling the socket space and minimising soft tissue shrinkage.

GBR Combination Therapy

Used in combination with an InterCollagen® Guide resorbable membrane for comprehensive guided bone regeneration — graft packed and covered for optimal space maintenance and healing.

Application & Handling

Simple to Place, Predictable Results

1

Trimming (if required)

InterOss® Collagen can be trimmed to the desired dimensions using forceps and scissors — in dry state or after hydration. For blocks, templates can be used to minimise waste.

2

Hydration

Hydrate the material in blood or sterile saline solution prior to placement. The collagen absorbs fluid rapidly (1.7× absorption ratio), improving pliability and adaptation to the defect contour.

3

Placement

Pack the hydrated plug or block firmly into the socket or defect site. Ensure sufficient contact with the bleeding bone surface to facilitate ingrowth of new blood vessels and bone-forming cells.

4

Membrane Coverage

Cover the graft with an InterCollagen® Guide resorbable membrane to minimise particulate migration, prevent soft tissue ingrowth, and guide bone regeneration for optimal outcomes.

5

Wound Closure & Healing

Ensure secure soft tissue closure without tension. Allow minimum 6 months healing before re-entry. The collagen component integrates early while the hydroxyapatite granules provide long-term scaffold stability.
